On the territory of Colchian lowland in cultural layers iron moulding workshops of the second half of the III millennium B.C. were discovered.
The copper materials the workshops situated on the lowland were supplied from the mountainous regions of the Colchis (Upper Svaneti, Upper Ratcha, outsets of the river Bziphi and Kodori) from the existing copper deposits.

It appears likely that a Roman sword discovered in grave #3 at Kldeeti, with a gem-adorned silver clasp, represented an award granted to a local leader by Roman imperial authorities, in recognition of his pro-Roman orientation, or his participation in Roman military campaigns.

Die Bergregion ist ein besonderes Siedlungsgebiet, in dem eine einheitliche Besiedlung, die durch das monolithische blutverwandtschaftliche System verstärkt betont ist, in einem engen Raum ihren Ausdruck findet. Dementsprechend bilden die Viehwirtschaft und die Landwirtschaft einen wirtschaftlich - kulturellen Aspekt. Allgemein diese Besiedlungsform ist nur für das Hochland charakteristisch, sie ist auch typisch für jede Bergregion der Erde, aber jedes Gebiet ist durch seine eigenen lokalen Variationen geprägt.
