Alaverdi St. George's chapel was known for its supernatural power throughout ancient Georgia. There arrive also non-Christian worshipers in this area of George from the different parties of the Caucasus.

In 1735, from August in the East of Georgia began “Kizilbashoba”. From now on, the rulers of Kartl-Kakheti were appointed by power of lran. Shah of Iran used to choose as a rulers either Georgian Moslim kings or Kizilbash khans. They had being ruling from August of 1735 to January of 1744, before reing of Teimuraz-Erekle in Kartl-Kakheti. It was the hurdest time in the history of Geargia.

The issues of relationship between the Church and the State were one of the most urgent issues in the 20-ies of the XX century. Even in the period of Nickoloz II the state regulated its relationship with the church by means of state chief-procurator. After the February Revolution the Interim Government maintained the office of chief-procurator and added it to the establishment of the Ministry of Religion. By means of these two civil establishments the state tried to control the activity of Church.

The calm between national minorities in Georgia was broken by Russian policy of "divide and rule". It was used by Abkhazian and Osetian separatists.
After declaration of the independence of Georgia in 9th of April 1991 separatists, encouraged by so-called "elder brother", became very active and Georgia was involved in religious-ethnic conflict.
